The Hotel dei Cavalieri and the Resstende solar screens

The Hotel of the Knights, historic 4-star hotel in Milan, built in 1949 based on a design by Emilio Lancia, has been the subject of an important reinterpretation in a contemporary key, without however affecting its charm and essential characteristics. It extends contributed to the project with the tailor-made creation of the solar shading systems of the new panoramic restaurant located on the 10th floor of the building. The renovation and expansion project, by the studio OneWorks, dialogues with the existing building, enhancing and rediscovering some elements of the original design. The project included the creation of the new roof terrace, the replacement of the facade windows, the creation of a new entrance on Corso di Porta Romana and the creation of 72 new rooms on the main front, distributed over the seven levels of the building and connected to existing rooms. Resstende responded to the needs exposed by Studio One Works with various design solutions. The Resstende project managers, in accordance with the project directives, started the installation of 90 roller systems to create the roof of the panoramic terrace on the tenth floor. It was the cover itself, designed from scratch by One Works, that defined the dimensions and depth of the awnings. The 'segments' of which the roof is made up were the fulcrum of the entire project, consequently leading to the definitive solution.
